A MESSAGE FROM OUR RECTOR

“May your choices reflect your hope, not your fears” -Nelson Mandela

We believe Education is an act of Hope. Life brings challenges and requires us to focus and refocus. We need to accept the challenges and embrace the changes it may bring. We need to care and take care. This is what defines us as Urbanites- we are the change that we wish to see in the world.

The beautiful thing about learning that no one can take it away from you. We know that most of us are ready to learn, although we might not always like to be taught. To learn one needs to be disciplined as discipline develops character and adds value to our relationships.

Being a student is easy, but learning requires actual work. At URBAN ACADEMY we will bring change to the world-we will strive to keep on learning, to develop our skills, and be the change the world needs. What is behind us is history, we are living the NOW, but we do realize that the NOW will not last forever. We live the now to be able to live the FUTURE – and the future need educated people- the future needs URBANITES.

Many new opportunities are waiting to be discovered- and that is what we need to be prepared for. If we only focus on the past and/or the current situation, we cannot see the future. If we allow the pressures of today to darken our future perspective, we can easily get caught up in the present – and not be ready to step into the future.

The future depends on what you do now, each day you are creating your future life, so use your time in a wise manner.  A wise man once said; “Education is the passport to the future-, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.”

Your future is as bright as your faith-and faith is what we need to open doors.

Welcome to URBAN ACADEMY – “OMNIA IN GLORIAM DEI” - All to the Glory of God”

ABOUT

HISTORY

Urban Academy was established in 2012. The need for a caring educational facility was identified along with the need to provide education in an urban environment.

A partnership with churches and the community resulted in an educational model where everyone could be accommodated. What started as a school with seven members of staff, is now a thriving community of over 900 learners. Our continued growth has allowed us to expand to 2 campuses with a dedicated campus for Grade R - Grade 1.

Far away from suburbia, in the heart of Port Elizabeth, Urban Academy has become a beacon of hope for learners of various backgrounds.

We are proud of the culmination of cultures that make up the student body of PE's finest city school.

MISSION & VISION

The mission of the School is to pursue and maintain excellence in all spheres of school life, academic, sport and cultural, within the South African community.

It is the aim of the School to produce young men and women who are independent thinkers with physical and moral courage, who are articulate, well mannered and tolerant, educated in the widest sense of the word, sensitive to the needs of others, and dedicated to the service of their fellow men and women and the community as a whole.

Our vision is a world in which every child has the opportunity to attain an excellent education – a right to survival, protection, development and participation

CODE OF

CONDUCT

CODE OF CONDUCT

Urban Academy aims to provide learners with structure. To do so, we have set out a disciplinary process that covers everything from appearance to serious transgressions.

It is very important to us to instil a sense of pride in our learners. This means that learners are expected to take pride in their grooming and their uniform.

The moment this pride is instilled in them, we are able to set necessary boundaries which are all aimed at keeping our learning environment free of distraction and full of the hunger to learn.

The disciplinary process is found in our Code of Conduct. This Code of Conduct is part of the application process and must be signed by parents or guardians to complete the application process.
